Description
Well, this took so long to make. (The tute, i mean...)
This is a really easy tutorial that works really well! I used this to make my apple cutting board (will upload soon!).
If you want it darker, I suggest not using darker clays but using warm brown soft pastels. Shave off some powder, get a q-tip, and spread it evenly. I did that to the apple board as well.
I like using folders and books as my "flat surfaces" and ended up shooting this tutorial on the book where the *original* tutorial came from. I modified the steps, but the credit for this idea goes to Dotty McMillan. I cannot find the book anywhere, though, so I thought id put the tute up here.
Enjoi!!

You can slice the log (slices 4 cards thick), lay the slices side by side (alternating ends to avoid "checkerboarding") on a backing sheet of clay that's one of the colors you used, about 3 cards thick. Roll this at a setting of about 4 cards and use the resulting sheet for many projects - for instance, wrap pen tubes with those pen kits you can buy inexpensively. I suggest the "Amazing Twist Pen" since the components screw together instead of needing to be press-fit/hammered together. You can cut pendants out of this sheet, insets for bevels, cover business card cases, etc.
